

Thomson, Ernest Robert-87, of Halifax/Dartmouth, passed away May 3, 2011 at Camphill Veteran’s Memorial. He was born in Moose Jaw, SK. During the Second World War, he served in England with the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 1967, Ernest came to Halifax and took a job with Dover Flour Mills, where he worked until retirement at the age of 65. During his spare time he enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, walking, singing, he was involved in the church and the Knights of Columbus. Ernest will be remembered as a true gentleman and a sharp dresser. He is survived by his son, Bruce (Lois) Thomson, Kitchener, ON; daughters, Lynn Banks, Lake Echo and Barbara (Sean Sears), Halifax; brother George, BC; sister, Kay, BC; grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Laura, Jennifer and Angela; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; second wife Joan Bizzo; as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children Jean (Pyle) Thomson. Visitation will be held on Friday May 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Memorial service to take place at 1pm Saturday May 7 in the funeral home chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
