BOWES, Evelyn Mae - age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 6th in Halifax. Born in Dartmouth and grew up on Caledonia Road for over 40 years, Evelyn married young and raised her family in Westphal where she will be remembered for her dedication to community service supporting the children’s burn unit for many years as a volunteer. Later in life, Evelyn moved to the South Shore for over 30 years and was a loyal employee of Gow’s Home Hardware in Bridgewater, where she left a lasting legacy through her work ethic and in particular her skill and devotion to creating annual Christmas displays that drew crowds to the store. While not a musician in her own right, Evelyn loved music and loved to sing. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Byron and Marjorie (Baker) Bowes and her sister Barbara (John) Campbell. Evelyn is survived by her brother, Douglas Bowes, brother in-law John Campbell, and two children, Steven (Terry Harper) Vidito and Christine (Mike) Myette. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity as “Grammy Ev” to her grandchildren Murray (Tara) Vidito and Olivia and Geoffrey Myette and as “Aunt Evelyn” to her nieces and nephews. It was Evelyn’s wish to be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10am on Saturday, October 12, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth. Donations in Evelyn’s remembrance are requested to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. I have so many funny memories of your mom when we were in junior high and then in much later years. One thing that never changed was her sense of humor and her laugh! I can always hear her laugh in my head. She was a loving mom and your memories will always keep her close in your heart. Love, Susan xo

Aunt Evelyn..... that laugh! I can still hear that laugh every time I think of it! So many times I was told my pig headedness was showing..... you would be pleased to know I am still as stubborn now as I was as a child. When I think of you strength, grace and determination are the first things to come to mind. I hope you Grammy and Mom are celebrating together........ ❤️

May you Rest In Peace and in the arms of the angels.
