Florine Elizabeth Sykes

SYKES, Florine Elizabeth - age 89, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully July 23, 2017 in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax after a lengthy illness. She was born in Windsor, Ontario and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Scott) Dumeah. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Wayne) Duncan and Susan Shaw and by her son Stephen (Brenda MacPherson); granddaughters Dr. Emily Shaw (Dr. Peter Green), Stephanie Duncan, Keltie Duncan (Tim Purcell); grandsons Douglas Shaw (Kenda White), Andrew and Geoffrey Sykes and great grandchildren Aubrey, Maggie and Oliver Green. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Douglas, her 13 siblings, and her daughter-in-law Suzann (Foster) Sykes. Special thanks to the staff of Evan Hall and Garden Court for their care and kindness. A memorial service will be held in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 216 School Street, Dartmouth, on Friday July 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Dr. P.A. (Sandy) McDonald and the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Chenard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice. The family invites you to a reception following the service at the Brightwood Golf and Country Club.
