Gerald Edward Fay

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Fay, who left us on March 16, 2024 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. Jerry was born on February 27, 1943 in Waltham Massachusetts, and left an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to know him during his 81 years. He was predeceased by father Edward “Ned” Fay, mother Mary Fay, brother Robert “Bobby” Fay, and sister Mary Cronin. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Virginia O’Brien and Priscilla Edmunds.

Jerry was a man of great integrity, known for his tireless work ethic and unending devotion to his loved ones. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and friend. He offered a beacon of warmth and kindness to those around him and touched many lives with his generosity and spirit. He was an anchor of strength and a source of love, wisdom, and gentleness that will never be forgotten.

Jerry was a truly unique individual and had a sense of humor like no other. You could hear his bellowing laughter before you saw him. Jerry was known for his remarkable stories and the ability to convey his passion as if you were experiencing it for the first time with him.

The most important thing to Jerry was his family. He took great pride in his children's accomplishments and found joy in their shared interests and conversations. He would meticulously document their life’s milestones and was always up to date on the latest family gossip.

Jerry was an entrepreneur, animal lover, Patriots fan, and world traveler. He made several trips across the US, from Boston to Los Angeles, in his Austin-Healey in the 1960s. He spent several months in both Hati and Brazil while rounding out some time to visit Hong Kong. He started several businesses; furniture/antiques, jewelry, and opened a restaurant in Cape Cod. Jerry was employed at Harvard University for seventeen years where he worked in a lab doing nutritional research on rhesus monkeys.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Regina Fay, who was the love of his life and to whom he was deeply committed for over 49 years. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with joy, laughter, and love.

His legacy will continue to live on in his children and also his grandchildren. His daughters, Kerri Schoonyoung, Elizabeth Latter, Veronica Fay, and Jessica Fay, will forever hold in their hearts memories of a father who nurtured and inspired them with his kindness and strength. His sons, Jonathan, Alexander, Jeremy, and Oliver, will remember him as a father who instilled in them values of courage, honesty, and tenacity.

The light that Jerry shed on this world will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched will miss him dearly. We take comfort in knowing that his love will forever be a part of us.
