Gerald Douglas "Jed" Saplave

SAPLAVE, Gerald Douglas “Jed” – 85, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017 in the Halifax Infirmary Q E II following a stroke a month ago. He was surrounded by his extended family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Peter and Marjorie Saplave. He was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth having worked as a labourer and helper with several companies, including Purdy Brothers. He is survived by his sister in-law; Kathleen Forbes, nieces and nephews; Marjorie (Lloyd) Brown, Kathleen (Frank) Feeney, Donna (Russell) Corkum, Hap (Debbie) Forbes, Peter (Cindy) Forbes, Robert (Arlene) Forbes and William Forbes. He was predeceased by his step brother; Harold Forbes, sister Marie and a nephew Paul Forbes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Funeral Mass will be held 11am Saturday, September 16 in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Courtney Road. Father Joseph Cairns officiating. Burial will be 11am Monday, September 18, in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
