November 19, 1951 – April 26, 2025
Geraldine "Geri" Edith Thompson, age 73, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully during an afternoon nap at her home on April 26, 2025. The fourth of ten children born to Geraldine and Harry Gray, Geri was known from a young age for her humour, warmth, and charisma—traits that helped her form deep and lasting friendships throughout her life. Geri’s quick wit and laughter could light up any room.
Geri lived with compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. A devoted Baptist and active member of her church, she was especially involved in children’s ministry—where her beloved puppet Walter helped teach young hearts about God. She greatly enjoyed her Bible study, seniors’ gatherings, and arts and crafts groups. She also volunteered with Al-Anon, offering gentle wisdom and support to those in need.
A nature lover, Geri especially cherished birds and Lady Slipper flowers. She found joy and meaning in creativity—through poetry, painting, sketching, and music shared with family.
Above all, Geri was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Kathleen Thompson, her pride and joy. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, kind heart, and steadfast faith. Though she is deeply missed, the love, laughter, and wisdom she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Geri is survived by her devoted daughter, Kathleen; her siblings Bill Gray (Linda), Nancy Feener, Gayle Gray, Greg Gray (Debra), Jack Gray, and Denise Gray-Cox (Fred); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Geraldine Gray; her husband of 27 years, William (Bill) Thompson; her beloved sister, Lillian Ritchie; and her brothers, Michael Gray, and David Gray (in infancy)
Visitation will take place Monday, June 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Regal Heights Baptist Church in Dartmouth, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada. Online condolences may be shared at www.mattatallfuneralhome.com.
