TRIDER, Ina Jean- 84, of Dartmouth. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom on Jan 7, 2018 at the Ivany Place in Bedford. She was born in Dartmouth on April 1, 1933 the daughter of Ralph & Gladys (Frizzell) Trider. Mom grew up in Dartmouth where she remembered the VE Day Riots after WW11 and the Bedford Magazine Explosion as very momentous events in her early life. As a younger woman she was very involved with the community of Dartmouth with the Home & School Assoc. and she was Family Life Chairman of the Canadian Mental Health Assoc. Mom was on the Board of Directors for the Dartmouth Vocational School. Later, she was a strong advocate for many as she worked as a correctional officer, a court worker, a probation officer as well as working with woman in trouble with the law with a group called Unison. She was involved in the Status of Women and Department of Highway Safety Council. She also worked at Dalhousie Legal Aid. With everything she was involved with, her family was her greatest focus. For the past 30 years she battled many chronic illnesses which she fought to bring about awareness, especially for chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple chemical sensitivity. She is survived by her daughter Joy (Terry) Ferguson of Hammonds Plains, Steve (Lorraine Delaney) McLaughlin of Fall River, Gary “Gigs” (Valerie) McLaughlin of Cole Harbour. Grandsons, Trevor, Adam, Cory and John; great grandson Hunter. She was predeceased by her brothers Ron and Douglas Trider. We are so grateful to the staff at Lighthouse Point where she lived for a year and then Fisherman’s Landing in her final days. A private family gathering will take place with interment at a later date at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. The world has lost a beautiful soul and heaven has found an angel.
