Gibbons (Sleep), Irene Margaret. 98, passed away on October 1st, 2011 at Ivy Meadows in Beaverbank, NS. Born in Summerville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (McConomy) Sleep. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Mike) DeMontbrun, Red Deer, Alberta; son Peter (Diane) Gibbons, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; grandsons Gregory and Patrick Gibbons and David DeMontbrun; nieces Lorna Luffman and Carol Gamble. She was predeceased by husband Fenton, brothers Albert and Joseph, son Stephen and grandson Stephen DeMontbrun. Mom was a great homemaker, gardener and cook; she had a wry sense of humour you could appreciate once you knew her. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Tuesday at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. There will be no service at Irene’s request. Much thanks and admiration to the staff of Ivy Meadows. They are a credit to their profession.
