Joan Aileen Patterson

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Joan Aileen Patterson, age 90 at Bisset Court on September 27, 2015. Joan was the eldest daughter of the late Lewis Kilroy and Florence Elizabeth (White) DeYoung. Joan was employed at Cunard's and Irving Oil for 41 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, playing cards with her siblings and bowling. Joan treasured her summers at Lake Charlotte. Joan is survived by sisters Geraldine Blakeney, Lorraine Mattatall, Margaret Williams and Marilyn (Lucien) Levesque; brothers Ralph (Sharon) DeYoung, Timothy (Eleanor) DeYoung, Paul (Beverley) DeYoung; brother-in-law Bert (Barbara) Patterson. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas and sister Shirley Manuel. Joan was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Bisset Court for the wonderful care given to Joan. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 30 at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. at The Anglican Church of Saint Andrew, 2 Circassion Drive, Cole Harbour with Reverend Katherine Bourbonniere officiating.
