O’Brien, Kathleen G.-96, of Woodside passed away peacefully of old age at home with her son by her side on March 17, 2014. Born on Laybolt’s Island, Lower Ship Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Laybolt. Kathleen is survived by her son, Mel Singh-O’Bryan; sister, Lola Wiebe; granddaughters, Wendy (John) Sanderson and Mimi O’Bryan; grandson, Chris (Margaret) O’Brien; great grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Sanderson, Leah and Jennifer O’Brien; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Almon; son, Dale O’Brien; sisters, Ivy, Evelyn, twins Thelma and Una; brothers, Donovan, Kenneth and Dermott. Visitation will take place on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and the funeral service will be 10am Friday March 21, at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth.
