WALLIS (nee Sawler), Kathleen Jean – 51, of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly in the Victoria General, QE II Health Centre on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, following a brief illness. Born in Dartmouth on March 9, 1961, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Frances (Hull) Sawler. Kathleen was educated at Dartmouth High School and Mount Saint Vincent University. She worked as an administrative assistant for a number of years, and spent several years as a chef in the restaurant/catering industry in South Florida. Kathleen will be fondly remembered by clients and friends as the owner of Kaleidoscope Café and Bakery in Dartmouth for several years. There she created a welcoming atmosphere, where only the best ingredients were used to create mouth-watering meals and sweets. However, Kathleen’s greatest and proudest creation was her only son Thackery, who was the love of her life. She was a generous person, a loyal friend, and a firm believer “pay it forward”. Kathleen will also be remembered for her sense of humor. She is survived by her son Thackery, sister Cheryl , Dartmouth, and brothers Paul (Diane), Dartmouth, and Stephen (Wendy) of Bridgewater. She is also survived by former husband Paul Wallis, nieces Ashley and Megan and nephews Nicholas and Matthew, aunt Kathleen Sawler, and aunt and uncle Goldie and Harold Hull, as well as several dear cousins. She will be greatly missed, especially by long-time friends Sharron Hillaby and Kathleen Fogarty. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held in the chapel at A.L. Mattattall, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, on Saturday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
