

Mantley, Lionel Sinclair – 54, of Dartmouth. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Lionel on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born August 18, 1958 in Africville, he was the son of Bertha (Parris) and the Late Charles Mantley. Lionel was an inspiration to all who met him. He had a special appreciation for the seniors. Always lending a helping hand where needed. He volunteered many years at the Victoria Road United Baptist Food Bank assisting Rev. Dr. Donald E. Fairfax with various tasks. His passions were various types of music, stock car racing, wrestling and of course his all time favourite boxer Muhammad Ali. He had a personal spirituality and love for the Lord. He is survived by his loving mother Bertha, sisters Shirley Jafralie, Montreal, Barbara Sambury , Houston, Cynthia (Patrick Banasko) Carpenter, Calgary, Charlotte, Toronto, Beverley, Charlene (Kevin) McDermott and Special sister Daina (Fred) Crooks all of Dartmouth, brothers Alan, Christopher both of Dartmouth, Leslie (Brenda), Edmonton, Charles (Theresa) Calgary, many aunts, uncles, cousins, special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Mantley, younger brother, Stephen Mantley, two uncles, four aunts, and two sets of grandparents. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, March 11, in A. L.. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland Street. A funeral service will take place 1pm on Tuesday March 12 in Victoria Road United Baptist Church, Rev. Cheryl Ann Beals officiating. Family flowers only, Memorial donations may be made to: Victoria Road United Baptist Church or the Leukemia Society. A very special thank you to Lionel’s sister Charlene for being his caregiver.
