

McDonnell, M. Eileen, of Dartmouth passed away on July 27, 2012 at Parkland at the Lakes. She was born in Salt Lake City Utah on October 29, 1921. Eileen was the beloved wife of Thomas Vincent McDonnell and the mother of Joan Stibbard, Tom (Pat) McDonnell and Barry (Mary Catharine) McDonnell and daughter in law Sandy McDonnell. Eileen is survived by her sister Sheila Davis and by her grandchildren Michelle (Cam) Beaupre, Cindy (Glen) Bossence, Derek (Angie Kretzschmar) Stibbard, Karen Ferguson, Erin McDonnell and Ian (Thalia) McDonnell. Eileen has twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents John and Jennifer Kavanaugh, brother Eoin, sisters Marion and Sinead, son Robert and son in law Gerry Stibbard.
Eileen grew up in Ireland and served as a nursing sister in London in WWII. Eileen, Vince and the children moved to Canada, from Cork, Ireland, in 1957. She was a member of the IWK Auxiliary and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Dartmouth.
The family would like to thank the staff of Parkland for their exceptional care of Eileen, and the support they provided to the family. A special thanks goes to George Fontaine.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11am Wednesday August 1, 2012 at St. Peter’s Church, 10 Maple Street Dartmouth. A reception will be held in the Church Hall following the Mass.
