
Connolly, Margaret- The family of the late Marg Connolly are saddened to announce her passing at the Dartmouth General Hospital on January 6, 2015 at the age of 92 years. Born on January 18, 1922 to the late John and Maryanne MacDonald in North Sydney. Mom moved to Halifax during the Second World War to work at the Halifax Dockyards. On a blind date she was introduced to Edward (Ned) Connolly, a young army private, whom she married in 1945. During their married life Mom developed many lifelong friendships from Romans Avenue to Joffre Street, including her wonderful neighbors in Dartmouth. Mom was active for many years with T.O.P.S. and the Findlay Centre Senior Citizens Club.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother, Michael MacDonald; daughter, Peggy Foreman; and beloved cousin, Lloyd MacDonald. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom will be lovingly missed by her children, Marie, Cathy, Janet (Peter) and John, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Karen (Kirby) Cormier, Michael Foreman, Kyla and Nick MacDonald, Sean and David Thomas, Ryan and Matthew Connolly; great-grandchildren, Mikhale, Sophie and Sawyer Anne.
Many thanks to Dr. A. Wadden, the VON and the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital, and Mom’s live in care givers for making her final months as comfortable as possible.
There will be no visitation as per Mom’s request. Funeral mass to be held from St. Clements’s Church, Gaston Road, Dartmouth on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11am. Father Gilbert Bertrand OMI, officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Hope Cottage, 2435 Brunswick Street, Halifax, NS, a service for those in need that was near and dear to Mom’s Heart.
