Age 95, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Cory O’Dell and Ruby (Wood) of Annapolis. She was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts on October 30, 1923. Marjorie grew up in Canning. She is survived by daughter, Susan Leger of Liverpool. Predeceased by husband, Vernon; son, Douglas; brother, Cory O’Dell. After 67 years of marriage to Vernon, Marjorie felt a tremendous void in her life since his passing one year ago to the day. After a long and active life, Marjorie will be missed by all who knew her. Marjorie had a strong faith and was very active in her church community at Stairs Memorial United Church. She was a past president of the UCW and remained a member of the Elsie Aitken Unit up until her passing, she started the Explorers program at Stairs Memorial United in the early sixties, served on the church board, was a member of the church choir up until the age of 92, was active in church suppers, teas, bazaars and took an active part in many committees and church services. As a young woman she was a stenographer for CN Railway in Kentville and worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Toronto, ON. Shortly before her marriage she was an Apple Blossom Princess, proudly representing the town of Canning. The Annapolis Valley always held a special place in her heart. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Marjorie will always be remembered for her kindhearted spirit, compassion and willingness to help others. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at 2pm in Stairs Memorial United Church, Hester St., Dartmouth. Rev. Sarah Reaburn officiating.
