Nadia Williams-Tapper

September 2, 1955November 10, 2020

WILLIAMS-TAPPER, Nadia – of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Vera Williams. Nadia attended Mount St. Vincent Academy, Prince Andrew High School, Mount St. Vincent University and Carlton University where she attained her master’s degree in social work. Nadia spent her career working with families and babies starting at the Grace Maternity Hospital and later the IWK in her role as social worker and professional practice chief. Nadia was survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Brian Tapper, her daughter; Emily (Sidney Coakley), sister; Jane (Bob Harmes) and grandson; Bennett. Nadia loved family life, maintaining a close Life-long relationship with her sister Jane, traveling and enjoying their bus trips and bargain hunting. She treasured spending time with her daughter Emily and her grandson Bennett, who was her best medicine in the last year. A special thanks to her network of friends and co-workers for their ongoing support throughout her battle. Our sincerest thanks to Dr. Jeyakumar and the oncology department at the Q E II Victoria General Site as well as the nurses and doctors at the Dartmouth General emergency department and 3E for their care and support. Nadia’s remains have been cremated. Due to Covid 19 concerns a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nadia’s name to the QE II Health Sciences, Cancer Care Unit or the IWK Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com

To Nadia's Husband Brian, Emily & Jane, my thoughts & prayers are with you.
Nadia often shared tidbits of fun family times.
I have not seen Nadia in several years BUT remember her as a smiling busy caring young woman, ready to spend time with any patient it was felt needed help/direction.

It is hard to know what memory to share of my good friend and mentor Nadia. As others have conveyed, she was a kind, gentle person who always took the time to listen, help and guide - no matter what was going on in her work life or at home. I am so grateful for the many years of morning coffee, thoughtful consultation about difficult situations, awesome advice about being a mom, lots of laughs and fun get togethers with the Nena, Jane and Gisele. My heart is broken for Brian, Emily, Sidney, Bennett, Jane and Bob and for all of us who loved and cared about Nadia. She will be missed beyond measure.
