Raymond Butt

Raymond Joseph Butt age 87 of Dartmouth, NS passed away on February 27, 2024 at Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax on March 15, 1936, he was a son of the late Henry Joseph Butt and Marie Catherine McKenzie Holland.

Raymond was a well-liked, soft spoken gentleman, loved to dress well and drive nice cars. He loved the sea and spent a lot of his time at the waterfront. Throughout his career he worked with Dartmouth Marine Slips as a Rigger and also for Overseas Drilling Ltd as a Crane Operator which took him all over the world. He really enjoyed participating in social events with his family and friends.

He is survived by his special friend, Marie Morash and her family; daughter, Annette Kesebi; step son-in-law, Doug Marlow; brother, Robert (Betty Lou); sister-in-law, Beverly Butt; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Marilyn and Angel (Ricky); great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Ava, Isaac and Denver as well as many nieces and nephews. Raymond is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Anne Rogers (Gay); brothers, Leo, John and Kenneth; sisters, Lillian, Doris and Sheila and his step daughter, Diana Marlow.

A sincere thank you to the staff of Arborstone Enhanced Care for their care and compassion during Raymond’s time there.

A memorial service will be held for Raymond on Saturday, March 9 at 11am from A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth with Rev. Kevin Little officiating. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
