KENNEDY, Robert L. (Ret’d Staff Sgt.) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bob. Born in Halifax in 1951 he was the son of the late Myrtis and James Kennedy. Bob attended the Dartmouth School System and then went to Dartmouth Regional Vocational School. He eventually joined the Dartmouth police Force and enjoyed 35 years in the job, retiring in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Betty (West) Kidston of more than 30 years; his sons, Bradley (Ami), Blake (L.J.); step-son, Matthew Kidston (Liz); grandchildren, Dylan, Kadyn, Kody; step grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeremy, Tyler and Anthony; granddaughter, Faith as well as his brother, Doug (Cathy) of Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, David and Don, sister-in-law, Lorraine and his step-son, Adam Kidston. His loyal furry friend Chance will miss him very much. He loved his car racing with Dale Earnhardt as his best driver. In his younger years he liked to curl, driving the NL team around Halifax. He was a good man and will be missed very much. By request there will not be a visitation. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2pm from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Maple Street, Dartmouth with a reception to follow in the Glebe.
Thank you to the staff on Floor 7A Palliative Care at the VG for their compassion and care of Bob. Memorial donations may be made to the M.S. Society.
