Born in Truro, he was the elder son of Sheila and the late Tom McDougall. Scott grew up in Enfield, attending Hants East Rural High where he was student council president in his graduation year. He made many faithful, lifelong friends both there and among “the gang”, the children he grew up with in his Pioneer Park neighbourhood.
Scott later attended St. Mary’s University and studied journalism at the University of Kings College. Between stints at university, he worked as a reporter at The (Enfield) Weekly Press.
In Toronto, Scott founded his own web design company and later joined Royal LePage Canada as a marketing communications specialist. A creative and intelligent man of charm and wit, he brought joy to those he loved and who loved him.
Scott is survived by his mother, Sheila, Dartmouth; his brother, Jack (Amelia) and nephew Tommy, Pollett River, NB; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Shearer, Truro; his girlfriend, Angela Sloan, Cleveland, Ohio; his best friend, Mark Bowlby, Ottawa; his former wife, Nancy Jollimore, Toronto; aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 11 a.m., at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth, reception to follow. Donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or SHAID.
