To Peter, and all his wonderful brothers and sisters that I have come to know over the years, my deepest sympathies on your dear Mom's passing. She had a truly kind heart and soul,  boundless strength (from some of the amazing stories I've been told) and a wonderful sense of humour  - no doubt qualities that came in handy to raise 7 great kids. Take care.

 I will always remember your mother's genuine kindness and her easy-going attitude. Her door was always open and she would always welcome a houseful of kids. And back in the day, there was a lot of us roaming Charles St. Such great memories, of the growing up years. My condolences to each of you for your loss, but she's with her Tommy now, where she belongs.

To all the family.  Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your Mom.  Mary-Anne and I last visited her August 2013.  We would not have entertained the idea of not dropping by while visiting from Ontario.  Judy, you were my first babysitter - for Geralyn and Mary-Anne. Hello Courtney Clan..  

     Upon hearing this news I was immediately taken back to so many times when I shared your mom's kindness and wisdom.  I had a wonderful mother too, but I always left your mom's presence with a profound sense of how lucky you all were to have such a great woman as your mother. Her example guided me in many decisions I would make in my own life, to the benefit of both myself, and of those around me.  It is the ultimate tragedy this mortality that so binds us all, but never more so then in your Mom's case.  Peace to you all, and know she lives on in the fine people I know you to be.

So many warm memories of afternoons and dinners after school in the Courtney home.  Joan always had the most wonderful practical and down to earth approach to things.  Her energy and faith were an inspiration to all of us.  The extensive Courtney clan were indeed fortunate to have her as a mom.  Debbie and I send our deepest sympathy and warmest memories.

It was with great sadness that I learned about Joan's passing. She was such a presence on Charles Street for so many years; it is hard to believe that she is gone. Joan always made me feel welcome when I came to hang out with Dave and Peter, so much so that the Courtney house felt like a second home. My sincere condolences to the entire Courtney family.
