

He was born on December 24th, 1940, son of late Commander W.D.F. Johnston, RCN, RN of Arbroath, Scotland and Royal Jane (Jeffery) Johnston of Inverness, Scotland. For his education he attended KCS, Windsor University of King's College and Dalhousie, Receiving a BA and B.Ed. He Taught at Stellarton High School in 1969 and in 1970 became a provincial civil servant in the Adult Vocational Training Section of the NS Department of Education.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Basilica, Halifax. He was a staunch supporter of the Traditional Latin Mass (Tridentine). He was a worker, letter writer, and picketer of the abortuary on McCully Street for the prolife movement for many years. Arrangements entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home Dartmouth, NS. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 20th 2024 from 2-4pm an 7-9pm, rosary prayers will be held at each visitation. A sung Requiem Mass, Bp. Pierre Roy officiating, will be held on Wednesday, August 21st 2024 at King’s College Chapel at 11am with reception to follow at the King’s New Academic Building. Burial will follow the reception at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville.
