WHITE, William “Bill” Cyril - November 9, 1941 – April 3, 2020 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather on April 3, 2020 from cancer at the age of 78 after a brief stay at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Our sincere thanks to the dedicated healthcare professionals who ensured his final days were comfortable, especially during these trying times. Born and raised in Kennetcook, Nova Scotia, Bill was the youngest son of the late Cyril and Esther (Singer) White. In 1960, Bill married his beloved wife, Betty, marking the beginning of their 53 wonderful years together. Although Bill and Betty left Kennetcook as newlyweds, Bill maintained close ties to the area for the remainder of his life. Following their move to the city, Bill and Bets raised their family first in Halifax and from 1974 onward in the community of Woodlawn in Dartmouth. From humble beginnings emerged a kind, generous, and brilliant man. Having earned his CA designation in 1966, Bill was a trusted advisor and esteemed colleague to many throughout his 40-year career. But his family was his most prized accomplishment. Bill was a devoted father and, later in life, an adoring and tremendously present grandfather. He also cherished the many friendships that he and Betty cultivated over the years. Widely known for his love of dogs, some of Bill’s very best friends over the course of his life were of the canine variety. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Tony, and his darling wife, Betty, along with many cherished relatives, friends, and colleagues. He leaves behind his son Randy (Beccy), Dartmouth; daughter Karen, Edmonton; granddaughter Kelcie (John), Halifax; and grandson Callum (Taylor), Toronto. We will miss him dearly. As will his wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends, but perhaps none more so than his treasured sister, Geraldine. They were each other’s ‘person’. Blessed with countless friends in HRM, East Hants, and in Edmonton, there are simply too many to mention. So to all of you who spent time watching sports and solving the problems of the world with Dad be it at the beach, the office, the rink, the ball diamond, the backyard, the dinner table, or the neighbourhood Tim Horton’s, thank you. Thank you for enriching his life through camaraderie, conversation, and laughter. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to arrange a fitting tribute at this time. We will be having a private family burial and then a celebration of life in the future when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity or food bank to help such organizations support your communities during these strange and difficult times.
