

Albert F. Bolte, 87, of Davenport died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa and Heartland Hospice Services.
Albert was born October 14, 1922 in rural Scott County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Vera (Kuelper) Bolte. He was united in marriage to Ora Mae Moeller on September 22, 1945 in Davenport. Together they lived and farmed with their children on their Century family farm. He enjoyed friends and conversation, playing cards, polka music and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
His membership included the Knights of Pythias, where he was a 50 year member and a Chancellor Commander, 4-H leader, member and past president of the Pioneer Descendants, Moose Club, Farmers Union, GoldenWedding Club, and a lifetime member of the German Heritage Center. He served as a Blue Grass Township Clerk for 40 years.
Those left to honor his memory include daughters Barbara (Tim) Burroughs, Chillicothe, IL, and Laurie (Don) Marple, Eldridge, IA; son David (Susan) Bolte, Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Jennie Burroughs, Katie (Jeff) Blum, Dustin (Annie) Marple, SSgt Nathan (Jennifer) Marple (USMC; currently serving in Afghanistan) and William Bolte; great grandchild Grayson Marple and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, parents and a brother, Norman, preceded him in death.
