Visitation will be held between 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Runge Mortuary. There will be a private family burial at Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to The First-Tee Quad Cities in honor of John's love of the game.
John retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as a surveyor after 40 years of dedicated service. He was married to Deborah K. Pontzius and later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Gloria Vargas on September 4, 2003 in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was a loving father and husband. He was a good man and never had a bad word or thought of anyone. His father was his hero and role-model, whom he emulated throughout his life. He loved golf, carpentry, gardening, bowling with his work league, and traveling. He was in close contact with his relatives, a friend to all, and enjoyed going to lunch with his golf buddies. Above all, he was crazy about his grandchildren.
Those celebrating his life include his loving wife, Gloria Gall; children, Jennifer Gall, David Gall, and Victoria (Dan) Hayden; brothers, Frank Gall and Robert Gall; grandchildren, Dant Wilkerson, Blake Hayden, and Allyson Hayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. Gall Sr. and Myrtice C. (Smith) Gall, and sisters, Lorrie VenHorst, Sandra Buskirk, and Julia Barraclough.
