Albert J. Levan, 89, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf went home to the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel with a visitation one hour prior. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Albert was born a son of Edgar and Elona (Sanders) Levan on September 5, 1929 in Ava, Missouri. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Maxine Fry on May 28, 1949 in Ava, Missouri. Albert retired in 1989 after 25 years of service from the Rock Island Arsenal. He loved to fish, hunt and train his hunting dogs. He enjoyed experimenting with grafting different fruit trees, traveling to historic destinations and he liked to tell stories. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Maxine; children: Garry (Dottie) Levan, Kenneth (Brenda) Levan and Debbie (Gary) Bice; siblings: Irene, Reba and Joann; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Loreen, Arleta and Arlena; and brothers: Vernon, Raymond, Melvin and Arthur.
