Alexander Velasquez, 59, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Salvation Army, 4001 Brady Street, Davenport. The family will be present from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be at 1PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2108 at Glen Oaks Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Alexander was born December 7, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Cruz and Antonia (Del A Rosa) Velasquez. On August 5, 2003 Alexander was united in marriage to Jennifer Poore. He worked as an administrator at The Salvation Army since June 2011. He was an Officer (Ordained minister) with The Salvation Army since 2004. Alexander was known for his passion for Christ and his love and compassion for people a true evangelist. Those left to honor Alex’s memory include his wife, Jennifer: children: Alexander (Elizabeth) Velasquez, Denver, CO, Alina Hernandez, Chicago, IL, Adeline (Floyd) Knight, Chicago, IL, Christina (Domingo) Farley, Burlington, IA and Jaqueline Velasquez, Davenport, IA; grandchildren: Wanda Ramos, Lilliani Knight and Domingo Cardenas IV; brother, Joseph Velasquez, Orlando, FL; sisters: Marie (Joseph) Velasquez Rincon, Chicago, IL and Betty (Richard) Ciesiolka, Franklin, TN and special cousin, Katy (Wayne) Benedict, Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
