Alice D. Stoltenberg

Alice D. Stoltenberg, 100, of Walcott, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at Courtyard Estates in Walcott. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or Courtyard Estates. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Alice was born on August 31, 1914 in rural Scott County, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Peckenschneider) Umland. She was educated in a one room school house through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Alvin Emil Stoltenberg on October 30, 1935 in a farm house in rural Blue Grass, IA. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1988.

She loved her country life and was a talented cook and loved spending time in her kitchen. In her younger days she enjoyed dancing. Alice and her husband enjoyed traveling with their travel trailer over the years. She also loved to keep in touch with her family both near and far by sending hand-written letters.

Survivors include her children, Larry Stoltenberg (Ivy Straka), Walcott, and Sylvia (Don) Andera, Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren, Ronda (Todd) Hansen, Sioux City, IA, Roger Andera (Lori), Lee's Summitt, MO, David Stoltenberg (Courtney), Chandler, AZ and Steven Stoltenberg, Gilbert, AZ; nine great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; son, Sidney; and siblings, Irene Fagner, Delbert Umland, and Bernice Muller.
