Alton De Wayne Swanson

Alton D. Swanson, 89, of Davenport, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023 with his beloved family by his side. A memorial service will be on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 6:30pm at Kingdom Hall in Davenport, IA.

Alton was born on February 9, 1934 in Braham, Minnesota to Paul and Hazel Swanson. He was united in marriage to Diana Sorensen on March 5, 1955 and they raised four children together. Alton worked as a construction superintendent for various construction companies in the Quad Cities for many years. He took pleasure in working with his hands and he helped build and renovate many Kingdom Halls throughout the Midwest. Alton loved sharing his hope for the future and his love for Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. Following his retirement, he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, building, and his family. He will be remembered as a strong, hardworking, man of faith.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 68 years, Diana; four children Alan Swanson of Meridian, Idaho, Wayne (Darla) Swanson of Blue Grass, Iowa, Susan (Greg) Palmer of Vancouver, Washington, and David (Melisa) Swanson of Davenport, Iowa; eight beloved grandchildren Stephanie, Brooks, Kara, Holly, Paul, Emily, Jake, and Kylie; a great-grandson Alexander; and his sister Yvonne Swanson of Braham, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Hazel Swanson; daughter-in-law Becky Swanson; and siblings Shirley (Don) Minke and Merle Swanson.
