Alverna M. Rekemeyer, 95, of Maysville, IA passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Bickford of Davenport. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Inland Cemetery, Bennett, IA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Alverna was born on February 23, 1923 in Maysville, IA to Gus and Agnus (Lage) Goettsch. Throughout her life she had a very profound love of music. She enjoyed playing during various festivities, weddings and any occasion where an accordion was needed. At the age of 16, Alverna played accordion with the Iowa Ramblers. She was in several different bands, playing all types of music. Alverna married Jack Rekemeyer in 1944 and went on to enjoy 56 years of marriage. Aside from raising their twin boys and daughter, they farmed a century farm. Along with farming, she had an egg route in Davenport where she raised 500 chickens a year. She will be remembered as a charitable, loving, happy, friendly person that never met a stranger. Those left to cherish her memory include her twin sons, Ronald (Rita) Rekemeyer and Richard Rekemeyer; daughter, Peggy (René) Mejia; and fifteen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Elmer D. Goettsch and Harry P. Goettsch; and grandchildren, Doug and Teresa Rekemeyer.
