Anita Adomat

Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 11 am until 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. The service will follow at 2 pm. Cremation rites will follow. Committal services will be Friday, March 14th at 11am at the Rock Island National Cemetery where she will join her husband. Those who want to attend must be at Runge Mortuary by 10:15 am on Friday. Memorials may go to CASI, Blue Grass Fire Department or the Blessing Boutique in Blue Grass.

Anita was born in Sioux Falls, SD on September 20, 1948. She was the loving daughter of Aubrey and Alice (Deets) Conklin. She met her husband, Kenneth, on a blind date arranged by friends. They married on May 11, 1968, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. In June 1972, they moved to Blue Grass where they raised their two daughters and son.

Her memberships included the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church and the Blue Grass American Legion Auxiliary #711.

She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, summer vacations with family at Lake Okoboji, IA; spending time at CASI and visiting relatives in Sioux Falls, SD. Earlier in life, Anita sold Avon and worked a short time at Brach’s Candy Company. When her son went into junior high school, she became a bus aide for the school system until she retired. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her legacy include her children: Karen (Jay) Schroeder, Sioux Falls, SD, Angie (Dale) Burton, Blue Grass and Kenneth Jr. Adomat, Wilton; grandchildren: Alexis, Abby, Ethan, Andrew and Kaleb; great grandchildren: Jayce and Jaxson;; siblings: Allen Conklin, Ruth (Doug) Schram and Rose (Lee) Meyer; sister-in-law, Lee Conklin; numerous nieces and nephews and her many friends in Blue Grass and at CASI.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anita was preceded in death by siblings: Arvin and Robert Conklin and Arlene and husband, Jim, Alexander.
