Anita was born to parents Raymond and Florence (Pahl) Arp on February 27, 1937 at St. Luke's Hospital. Anita grew up in Blue Grass, Iowa where she attended grade school and graduated from Davenport High School in 1956.
Following high school, Anita began a career in healthcare that reflected her lifelong commitment to helping others. She worked as an X-ray technician at St. Luke's Hospital for nine years before attending Scott Community College to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). and continued working at St. Luke's for 42 years where she earned the honor of the first employee of the month in 1959.
Anita was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes & the Chicago Cubs. She also enjoyed embroidery, gardening and planting flowers, cooking, and baking, especially her famous Christmas fruitcake.
Throughout her life, Anita demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience. She contracted polio at 17 months of age and again at age 14. She was known for her caring heart, generosity, and willingness to help those she loved. She shared a special bond with her sister, Joan, and her beloved cousin, Sandy Roehlk, whom she considered a sister. She also treasured her longtime friendship with coworker Rosie Jeffries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan, and many beloved cousins and family members.
Anita is survived by numerous cousins from the Arp and Pahl families.
