Anita Colleen  Owens
Our Beloved Sister 

Though imperfect, the Anita we know was Loving,
demonstrating a mild and quiet spirit 
which is of great value in God’s eyes—1 Peter 3:4.

The outpouring of sympathies and expressions of condolences from so many including her Family, Workmates, Colleagues, Friends and her Spiritual Family in her Christian Congregation attest to her sterling character as a humble, exemplary human regardless of her foibles. Simply put, we found her lovable and will cherish her.

Although Anita sleeps in death now, we look forward to seeing her again in the resurrection, healthy and happy in the promised paradise, even as she herself looked forward to everlasting life on a paradise earth--John 11:11, 14; Genesis 2:1 and Genesis 1: 22. Then God's Will for humankind will be done on this earth, just as many pray for when they say the Lord's Prayer at Matthew 6:9, 10. Anita was firmly convinced that this will be accomplished through God’s kingdom government under Jesus Christ. For this reason, she devoted time to sharing her faith in God’s kingdom as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses—both informally and in the house-to-house ministry.

We also thank all: Anita’s Family, Workmates, Colleagues, Friends and her Spiritual Family of brothers and sisters in the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for your acts of Loving Kindness and Support.

Finally, a special Thank You to her beloved daughter Lovey, her son Jeremy and her sister Regina for being by her side during her final days. Please graciously accept our heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the assurance that Anita is safe in the Memory of Jehovah God, the Giver of Life who raised up Jesus Christ from the dead because Jehovah is the God of the Living—Mark 12:26, 27.

	 Beloved Sister, Friend & Family 

Anita has been our beloved sister and friend, with whom we have a common bond because of being united by an unshakable faith in our Creator, Jehovah God--who provided the ransom sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. We therefore have strong faith of welcoming our beloved Anita back to life in the resurrection just as Christ Jesus promised—John 11:25, 26.

We have fond memories of Anita and we shall miss her very much. We were childhood friends, sister-in-laws and most important, a spiritual family as Jehovah’s Witnesses—Proverbs 17:17. 
She had deep love for Jehovah God and Christ Jesus –Psalm 83:18; John 17:3.

As young people, we longed to live in a just world free of discrimination, sickness and even death. Through our study of the Bible, we came to appreciate the Creator's promise of a world where all people could live in peace, and where sickness and death will be eliminated (Revelation 21:1-5; Psalm 37:10, 11 and 29). We have been cherishing that hope throughout the years, and we enjoyed sharing it with others. Indeed, we were so happy to be part of the International Brotherhood of Jehovah's Witnesses--a brotherhood that transcends all national, ethnic, social and language barriers ( Acts10:34, 35).
	
As a mother, Anita diligently cared for her beloved daughter Lovonte and son, Jeremy in harmony with the divine command at Ephesians 6:4. She therefore trained and nurtured their physical and spiritual growth and health. And what a blessing this turned out to be as her children rallied to her side, with Lovonte leaving Arizona for Illinois in order to give Anita the personal care that she needed. For this we say a Special Thank You to Lovey along with Jeremy and Anita’s sister Regina.

For my friend, my sister, Anita C. Owens, aged 70 years:

When we think about the meaning of DNA, it shows us our bloodline and who we're related to. But even though Anita and I may not share the same mother and father, in every sense of the word, she and her sister Regina have always been family to our family. We sisters enjoyed our time with each other. Dorothy, Lin, Ann, and Nicole. Sisters engagement  and my
Brothers Ted, Melvin, Leslie, Laberne. Over the course of 70 years, a heart beats about two billion nine hundred forty-four million times, and every one of Anita’s heartbeats was filled with compassion and love. She was like a beautiful nightingale, always caring and giving, never wanting to hurt anyone. Even in her shyness, she had a heart of gold that shone through in everything she did. As a nurse for over 30 years, and even as a child, she was always concerned about others, always ready to listen and comfort.

My faith talks about servanthood, and Codie truly represented what it means to serve others always. If we were to define "servanthood" in the dictionary, it would simply say: "My sister, Anita Codie to others Owens, is the perfect example."

Anita was a light in our lives, a mother to the motherless, a sister to the sisterless, and a bold spirit in her quiet, loving way. She always found time to check on those in need, to stand by and support them, and to help us understand and heal. She was truly the nurse of our neighborhood, and we loved her dearly.

May God continue to give Lovey, Jeremy, Regina, and Jim the love and support they need in this very difficult time.

My heart goes out to the family. I worked with Anita for years at Genesis East Hospital she was very knowledgeable in what she did and was a beautiful person inside and out. The last time I saw Anita was about a month ago at Walmart and we just talked about old times.  She is at peace now.

I worked with Anita at Genesis for years! I’d often follow her and during bedside report we would tell the patients we were twins from different mothers since we had the same unique first name. Her smile was the first thing you noticed about her and her calm humor made me laugh more times than I could count. It was an honor to care for her in her last days though it broke my heart. Shine that glorious smile in eternity my ‘twin’!!

To Anita's family,  I  worked with her at Genesis.  I loved this beautiful person.  We got to spend countless hours with our patients giving them the best care we could give them. I'd not seen her since I retired but I think of her beautiful spirit and her kindness always.  Rest in peace dear lady

I worked with Anita many years. She always brought a smile to my face and to all her patients. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace. And may her family know how much joy she brought to this world and her presence will be greatly missed.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  I worked with Anita at Genesis and she was an amazing nurse.  She always brought a sense of calm with her.  She was the kindest soul and she shared her knowledge freely with those of us not quite as calm or experienced.  I was blessed to have known her and worked with her.  The world is a little less without her in it and I hope you find some comfort in knowing how many people she touched and helped in her life.

I am heartbroken. Anita is the lifelong friend one could only hope for, I was blessed to have her as my lifelong friend, and now my guardian angel.

My heart is broken, Anita was always true, kind, and loyal. She is the lifelong friend one could only hope to have, I am thankful she was that friend for me. I am blessed to have her as my lifelong friend.

Working with Anita was always a “better day” no matter how crazy our shift was.  Her smile and laugh always warmed everyone’s hearts.  She cared for patients, co-workers, and even strangers with kindness and compassion.  
May her light continue to shine in heaven, as it did on earth.

Anita was an important part of our online cancer support group, and was encouraging and supportive as she also shared her journey.  I am glad I got to know her through this means.
