Anna M. Bruce, 61, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Anna was born on December 8, 1965, in Starkville, Mississippi, to Lilly Mae Bruce and John Henry Bruce Sr.
Anna dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a childcare provider, nurturing and loving countless children throughout the years. She was a trusted friend, counselor, encourager, and caretaker to everyone who entered her home. To so many, she was simply "Mom."
An exceptional cook, Anna never hesitated to share a meal with anyone who was hungry. She enjoyed creating art, playing dominoes and spades, and going to the casino with her best friend, Geri. Above all, she treasured her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and her very best friends. Anna was also known for her joyful saying, "I MADE JJAAAM," an acronym that brought smiles to those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Markisha Bruce, Damion Bruce, Ebony Miles, Averiana Miles, and bonus daughter Megan, all of Davenport; her beloved grandchildren, J'shon, Jimmy Jr., Amarii, Aliyah, Ava, and Mia; her siblings, Shirley, Barbara, John, and Althea; a host of nieces and nephews; and all of her Scott Street babies, whose lives she touched with her kindness, love, and unwavering support.
Anna's legacy of generosity, compassion, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
