Barbara "Barb" A. Hutter

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory at 12 pm. Visitation will be held from 10 am – 12 pm. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with the love of her life, William “Bill” Hutter. Following the burial, there will a celebration of life/luncheon at Walcott Commons and Coliseum from 2 - 6pm. The address is 1116 E. Bryant Street, Walcott Iowa 52773. The family invites everyone to come celebrate Barb's life. Memorials may be made to Marie Tharp to disperse to Barb’s son’s favorite charities.

Barb was born on April 27, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York to James and Louise (Conroy) Harvey. She was united in marriage to Bill Hutter on January 10, 1970, in Geneseo, IL. Though their roots were in Brooklyn, Barb and Bill eventually made their home in Bettendorf, IA, where they built a beautiful life surrounded by family and loved ones. Barb worked for many years in the insurance business most notably for Trissel Graham and Toole from which she retired in the late 1990s. After retiring, they spent time enjoying life in Mountain Home, AR, where they spent nearly 10 years before eventually returning to the Quad Cities, the place they had always considered home. Barb and Bill enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2020.

Barb enjoyed bowling and spent many years as a member of the Greater Davenport Bowling Association, serving as secretary in several different leagues. One of her proudest accomplishments was participating in 44 consecutive USBC Women’s National Bowling Tournaments with her daughter, Marie.

Above all else, she cherished time spent with family. Whether it was holiday gatherings or watching her grandchildren grow up, she never wanted to miss a single moment with those she loved.

Her joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she ever met. She will always be remembered as “Nana” to those who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Marie (Mike) Tharp; a brother, Daniel McCarthy; 2 granddaughters, Amanda (Dan) Tellez, Katelyn (Chris) Wolfram; 3 great grandsons, Zerek Tellez, Taven Tellez and Briar Wolfram as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Hutter; a son, John Hutter and older brother, James Harvey.

The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to the medical staff and ICU nurses at Trinity Bettendorf that cared for her in her final days and treated her like family with the most extraordinary compassion. Their kindness and love will never be forgotten.
