

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 12 pm at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, 1200 Middle Road in Bettendorf. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10 am until the noon service. Private inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the church endowment fund or Clarissa Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.
Barbara was born in Attica, IN on October 2, 1934. She was the daughter of Clarence and Marjorie (Stipp) Slifer. She married Donald D. Biggs on April 3, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2009. In her earlier years, she worked as a clerk at Lafayette Life Insurance Company in Indiana and after moving to this area, worked for Executone prior to retiring.
She and her husband were longtime members of the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, worked in the church office and was a founder of the Bettendorf chapter of Presbyterian Women. She was an honorary lifetime member of the National Presbyterian Women. She also served as a Girl Scout leader, den mother for the Boy Scouts and was Past President of the PTA. She was a passionate Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter: Conee (Carol Meeter) Biggs, St. Paul, MN; sons, Bruce (Amy Rader) Biggs, Thorntown, IN and Brent (Kerry) Biggs, Bettendorf; grandchildren: Taylor and Riley Biggs and Lia and David Meeter Biggs along with four grand-dogs and six grand-cats. Her parents, husband and siblings: Laverne Hurst, Patricia Burdine and Clarence Slifer Jr. preceded her in death.
