Barbara was born in Davenport on March 25, 1933. She was the daughter of Harvey Asmus and Irene (Detlaf) Wolf. Upon graduating from high school, Barb worked for Petersen Paper Company for four years. She was part owner of Lawton’s Market in Davenport and when that closed, she went to work for Vera French Community Mental Health Center. She worked there for five years and then went on to work for the former St. Luke’s Hospital in the Social Services Department for two years. She then transferred to the Pastoral Care Department and worked for 27 more years.
Barb loved to read and spent most of her spare time doing that. She enjoyed counted cross-stitching and working on crossword puzzles. She loved to walk and walked in quite a few community walks. She also volunteered for many organizations such as Family Resources’ Domestic Violence Program, the BIX and Festival of Trees. Barb was a very active member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Davenport and would like memorials to go the church or to Family Resources for the Domestic Violence Program.
