Barbara Lewis

Barbara Jo Lewis, 89, of Bettendorf, died on January 26, 2026, at The Vistas. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park.

Barbara was born on June 10, 1936, in Davenport, IA, to parents Roland and Elva Speer. She attended Davenport High School. She went on to work in banking at Davenport Bank for 40 years, retiring in 2000.

Barbara was a voracious reader who loved to garden and play video poker and slots, taking many trips to Las Vegas over the years with her daughter. Her favorite thing was being a mother and a grandmother. She made sure to always be available for her family and always showed up to support or just hang out with the grandchildren. Her younger years were spent attending her children’s sporting events, which evolved to her watching her grandchildren’s musical events. Her family brought her great joy and she will be deeply missed.

Barbara is survived by her children, Steve (Sherry) Szyczewski, Scott Szyczewski, and Kelli (John) Bernard; her grandchildren, Preston and Brady Szyczewski, Katlyn LaMar, Nicole (Jake) Airgood, Morgan (Matt Fisher) LaMar; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; her first husband, Edward Szyczewski; and her second husband, William Lewis.
