Barbara J. Walter

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Barb was born April 18, 1933, in Omaha, NE to Benjamin & Mary (Cowles) Collatz. She was united in marriage to Gene C. Walter on October 17, 1953, in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1997.

Barb mainly stayed at home to care for her family and ran a home daycare for several years. She had attended Risen Christ Lutheran Church Davenport and had lifelong relationships with her friends and fellow “Club” card club members.

Survivors include 3 children David (Toni) Walter, Edward (Julie) Walter, & April (Larry) Peterson; son-in-law Michael Craven; 19 grandchildren Jason, Kristin, Christopher, Michael, Lacey, Thalassa, Nathaniel, Kevin, Kayleigh, Joshua, Jacob, Britta, Lars, Bjorn, Inga, Kelsey, Kiara, Ariana, & Tyler; numerous great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a sister Rose Marie Linnekamp.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, son Bruce “Gator” Walter, daughter Linda Craven, 3 brothers, & 2 sisters.
