Barry Thomas Thiede

As requested Barry was cremated. Visitation with the family present will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service following at 2:30 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, 838 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, Iowa 52807.

Barry was born Febuary 17, 1954 to Thomas and LaVonne Thiede in San Diego, California. Barry was raised in Maquoketa Iowa and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1972. He served two years in the US Navy, and studied architecture at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids Iowa, and Iowa State University. Barry was employed by Ideal Beverage Trucks & Bodies for more than 20 years where he painted and decaled trucks. Barry took great pride in the trucks he turned out as he had a natural artistic ability and keen eye for detail.

Barry married the love of his life Marcia Mason Shore May 27, 1989 in Sedona, Arizona. They lived the majority of their married years in the Ames, Iowa area, moving to Missouri in 2006. Barry was an avid New York Yankees fan. 2001 was an interesting World Series with Barry cheering for the Yanks and his wife and mom rooting for their team the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was also a fan of whatever team Payton Manning was playing on. Before his declining health, Barry liked to golf and loved to fish. He loved a good prank, known in the Thiede family as a “snoot”, and could always make you laugh. He loved his family and friends.

He will be missed and is survived by his wife and step sons Jason Mason (Angie) Kansas City, Missouri, Travis Shore (Marrona) County Club Hills, Illinois, mother LaVonne Thiede, Charlotte, North Carolina, sisters Valerie Baughman of Davenport, Iowa, and Dawn (Lynn ) Tucker Charlotte, North Carolina, brothers Mike (Becky) Thiede of Springfield, Ohio, and Brent Thiede of Raytown, Missouri; grandson William Shore, step-grandson Ethan Bennett, and many nieces and nephews.

Barry’s heavenly soul now joins his father Tom, brother Brad, in-laws Harold and Karen Mason and brothers- in-law Matthew Baughman and Bert Mason.
