Benjamin Paul Bippus

Benjamin P. Bippus, 23, of LeClaire, Iowa passed away Friday, August 10, 2012. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Tuesday at the mortuary. In honor of Ben, feel free to dress casually with your favorite Harley shirt or riding attire, because you know Ben would. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Ben was born January 3, 1989 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Gerald W. Bippus and Suzanne E. (Smith) Bippus. He was employed as a diesel mechanic with Dohrn in Rock Island. Ben was the sweetest, most giving person who never said “no” to anyone. Very generous with his time, Ben was a simple man who had the biggest heart ever known. Riding was one of his passions, which he shared with his best friend, Shaun. Ben and his brother Zach bonded with anything that had to do with wheels, it was their escape from everyday life.

Ben is survived by his parents Jerry Bippus and Suzi Bippus and brother Zach, all of Davenport; his beloved dog, Emma; aunts and uncles Brian Smith of Bettendorf, Beege Hanssen of Eldridge, Kevin Smith of Littleton, Colorado, Chris Smith and Shannon Elliott, both of Davenport, Kerry Smith of Bettendorf, David Bippus of Rockford, Illinois and Ellen Cassatt of Dallas, Texas; and grandparents Jim Bippus of Austin, Texas, Dr. Forrest Smith of Davenport, and JoAnn Smith of Bettendorf and numerous cousins.
