Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary. The Funeral Service will follow at 12pm. Ben was born the son of Frank and Marylynn (Keeler) Maher on June 7, 1942 in Conesville, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Janet Buckley on February 8, 1964 in Princeton, Iowa. He retired from ALCOA after 44 years of service.
He was gentle, kind, generous, and a friend to all. He loved fishing, hunting, dancing, playing with his grandchildren. He was handy and could fix just about anything. Jan was his loving best friend.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Jan; daughter, Lyn (Mark) Gingerich of Harrison, TN; son, Chad Maher of Bensonville, IL; grandchildren, Molly, Noah, Olivia, Megan, and honorary grandchild, Dallas; siblings, Marilyn (of the late Don) Baer of Muscatine, IA, Jim (Gail) Maher of Monmouth, IL, Edward (Valerie) Maher of Bettendorf, IA, Janice (Randy) Lownes of Colorado, and Irene (Bill) Lande of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and dancing friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles.
This is not a goodbye, but a see you later season in our lives.
You have joined those who have gone before us to prepare our later journey.
I know the dance floor will be in perfect condition when we get there.
And you will welcome us home for eternity through Jesus our Lord.
