Bernice Ann York

Bernice Ann York, 72, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at UnityPoint – Bettendorf, surrounded by her loving family. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Davenport. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

She was a loyal parishioner of St. Alphonsus church. She also spent many years as a floral designer.

Bernice was a beloved and devoted wife to Thomas M. York, her husband of 54 years. They met as teenagers and were soul-mates for fifty-six years.

She was a fantastic cook which she enjoyed, along with plants, card games and mass on Sundays. She will be missed dearly.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Thomas; mother, Norma Hughes; sister and brother –in-law, Pam and Jerry Dodds; children: Tony (Shelly) York; Rhonda (Rick) Puckett; Lisa (Lupe) Ruiz and Tommy (Karen) York; sisters-in-law, Mary Slyter and Janet Shankle; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and special friends, Sharon Caffery and Mimm Rommel. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Palmatier, mother-in-law, Irene York and a grandson, Michael Puckett.
