A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service at the mortuary. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Betty was born on April 1, 1931, in Brazil, IA. to Cora (Christie) and Glen Foster. Betty dropped out of school after the eighth grade and immediately moved in with an aunt in Rock Island and started working in retail. She later went to work for Oscar Meyer, retiring after 34 years.
Betty married William Mayo at a young age. They later divorced. They had two sons, Billy and Gary Mayo.
Betty met and married the love of her life, Edward Brewer. They were married on May 13, 1989, in Istanbul, Turkey. Together they retired from Oscar Meyer and traveled the United States, Mexico, and Turkey. Eventually they settled in the Quad City area. Ed died in January, 2004.
For the last several years of her life Betty moved to Geneseo to be near Gary and his family. Gary made sure Betty saw her friends regularly and she loved to attend Gary’s band performances. Betty had her own apartment and lived independently until her death.
Betty a.k.a. Bad Betty or Betty Boop was always the life of the party. She loved dancing, margaritas, and eating out with friends. She loved to “people watch”, and no matter where she was people gravitated to her.
Those left to honor her memory are her sons, Billy (Pat) Mayo and Gary (Trish) Mayo, and step-daughters, Wanda (Allan) Ward, and Becky (Joel) Hall. Betty had 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her parents, siblings Marge, Christie, and Larry, as well as her beloved husband, Ed.
