

Elizabeth E. “Betty” Devlin, 89, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Following cremation, a memorial Mass will be held at 1 pm, Monday, March 7, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, Sunday at the Runge Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Heritage Court Senior Living. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Betty was born in Chicago and married Thomas Devlin there on July 7, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1990. She retired in 1989 after more than twenty years of teaching elementary school in Davenport. Her memberships included DARSPA, Holy Family Catholic Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Iowa Teachers Association. Following her retirement, she remained active in her community by volunteering for Visiting Nurses, Senior Olympics and her church. She was a loving, joyful mother, nana and friend who enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include: daughters Judith Haggard of Larkspur, CO, Janice (Richard) Gunnarson of Indianola, IA and Kathy (Patrick) Hall of Port Byron, IL; son-in-law William Noth of Des Moines; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Noth and son-in-law, Tim Haggard.
