Betty Jane Hora was born on January 5, 1928 in Conesville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Antonia Hora. She married Bernard Frimml on January 11, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had two daughters, Linda and Judy. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1996.
In her earlier years Betty worked at several restaurants in the Quad City area. She enjoyed crosswords, casinos, bingo, camping and fishing. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She was given the nickname of “Betty Boop” by her friends and had an array of collectables. She and Bud enjoyed their four grandsons taking them fishing and camping. The highlight of the holidays was Betty making homemade noodles for the great grand children. She was also keeping the staff at Bickford laughing with her wittiness.
She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her throughout her life. Survivors include daughters, Judy (Nick) Bockenfeld and Linda Rymars; grandsons, Brian (Lisa) Andresen, John (Norma) Rymars and Chris Rymars; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Austin and Braden Andresen and Joseph and Joshua Rymars; and sister, Marcella Meinert, Wilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Mark Andresen; sons-in-law, Ardell Kleppe and James Rymars; brothers, Clarence, Arthur and George Hora; and sisters, Blanche Havel, Maria Havel and Elsie Jehle.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff and Genesis West ICU, Genesis Dialysis Unit, Dr. Motto, Select Specialty Hospital, Manor Care at Utica Ridge and Bickford Assisted Living who over the past eight months have overseen her care. They also want to thank Genesis East ICU, 3rd floor nursing staff; Genesis Hospice, Liz and Sandy; Social Worker, Stacy; Chaplain, Nancy; Dr. Gierke and Dr. AlSheika who treated her with such compassion during the last week of her life. Your kindness will always be remembered.
