The family request casual attire for visitation which will be 1:00pm to 3:00pm Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Cremation will follow. Following the visitation the family invites friends to the Circle Tap on Locust from 3:00pm to 7:00pm to share stories and honor Brad. Memorials may be made to the Verdy 51 Scholarship Fund. Brad was born June 21, 1969 in Davenport to Vincent & Elaine (Lamp) Verdon. He was a 1987 graduate of Assumption High School where he was the captain of the football team & played in the Iowa Shriners Game. He went on to attend & play football at St. Ambrose University from where he graduated with honors in 1991 with his BA. He then became a student assistant coach at Ambrose while earning his MBA graduating in 1993. After graduation he became a full time assistant coach and was with the program for 7 years. In 2005, Brad returned to St. Ambrose and earned his Bachelors in education and began working in the Davenport School System teaching business education at Sudlow Intermediate school. While teaching he held various coaching jobs at both the high school & intermediate levels.
Brad was a social person and enjoyed his trivia and attending many fund raisers and events. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and had bowled for many years. Brad’s nieces & nephews were very special to him. With his unique wit, he had given them all nick names and made sure he never missed their birthdays. He will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include his mother Elaine Verdon, Davenport; 2 sisters Mary (Matt) Dittmer, Eldridge, & Sandy (Paul) Hedges, Davenport; 2 brothers Steve (Lisa) Verdon, Davenport & Matt (Michelle) Verdon, Blue Grass, IA; nieces & nephews Billy, Allie, Anna, Kyle, Bryan, Aubrey, Makenna, & Mya; aunts; uncles; cousins; and an abundance of friends.
Brad was preceded in death by his father Vincent & his grandparents.
