

Brian received his BA from Bradley University and his Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Brian faithfully served in ministry for over 40 years, including locally for 31 years at Grandview Church in Davenport and at Bethany Baptist Church in Moline. His life was devoted to teaching and sharing the truth of God’s forgiveness, kindness, and grace. Known for his compassion, his uplifting voice, and his unwavering love for people, Brian left a lasting legacy in the lives of those he served. Brian also had a love for simple joys in life, especially time with family and driving his Chevy SSR red truck.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara; children Bradley Spitzer and Shanda McReynolds-Spitzer, and Benjamin and Brenda Massung; and grandchildren Oscar Spitzer, Owen and Colt McReynolds, and Brieanna, Samantha, Austin, Evelyn, and Alexander Massung. Siblings John (Carol) Spitzer, Virginia (Dan) Chalifoux, and Marianne (Tim) Miller. Brother-in-law Rev David (Jo Marie) Fleming. As well as many cousins, nieces & nephews.
The visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2:06 p.m. Both at Grandview Church 4316 N. Ripley Street, Davenport, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dallas Theological Seminary or Grandview Church. The family invites you to share your thoughts and memories by emailing [email protected].
