A visitation will be held on Friday July 24th at 11am, followed by a funeral service at 12 in the Runge Chapel. Burial of his urn will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery following the service. Byron LeRoy Kime Jr. was born on June 11th, 1936, to Pearl Richardson and Byron LeRoy Kime Sr. He grew up on a farm in Hawkeye, Iowa and went on to live a beautiful, fulfilling life. He was a man of many professional talents, a gifted engineer, entrepreneur with multiple business ventures and a pilot. Byron was proud to have served in the United States Air Force and had a life-long passion for volunteering and giving back. Byron was a man who loved to be outdoors. Whether he was flying. boating, fishing, watching the birds from his deck, or doing yard work- when he was outside, he was happy. More than anything, Byron loved his family, especially celebrating the 4th of July and Christmas.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Kime (Zenna); and his daughters Nancy Kime (Fred Mulch) and Mary (James) Stewart and Daughter-in-law Shufei Kime . He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Byron is preceded in death by his parents; four siblings; and his son Richard Byron Kime.
Byron is a man who will be remembered by all he loved as a man who was kind, intelligent, and loved everyone no matter their background.
