Byron was born in Davenport, Iowa on July 26th, 1969 to Marilyn Jean and Emmett Lee Wallace. He was a fun loving little boy who had a mischievous bent - never failing to bring laughter and joy to those around him. Byron graduated from Bettendorf High School, where he was on the diving team and enjoyed participating in plays and thespian club. He went on to attend and graduate from the University of Iowa.
He loved to recount stories of his time in Iowa City, including many tales of riding his bike through the halls of dormitories and becoming the president of his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta. Byron was a wonderfully gifted writer, and spent time in school furthering this strength before going on to earn his MBA from Temple University and later his Juris Doctorate from Tuoro College Law Center. Other study opportunities took Byron to Harvard University and the United Kingdom’s Cambridge University, where he made many fond memories.
Byron enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and older brother while growing up, spending many hours at the family’s duck pond in Missouri and at their cabin in Wisconsin. His interests were many and varied, from collecting vintage comic books, to Eastern cultures, classic literature, the Iowa Hawkeyes, video games and Batman lore. Byron was an avid storyteller, which was made apparent to those who knew him through his talent in writing and aptitude for conversation - He loved sharing tales of his youth and travels with family, and he always had a funny anecdote to share. He was an animal lover and had many companions throughout his life including many dogs both in Iowa and New York. He had a singular bond with Falstaff, his beloved macaw who was his friend for many years.
Byron never lost his sense of humor in spite of health challenges, and remained a kind, warm, curious, loyal and caring friend and family member throughout his life. He will be remembered as a good man with an inherent instinct to protect, and one who cared deeply for those close to him.
Byron is welcomed in heaven by those who loved him dearly, including his mother, Marilyn; his brother, David; his grandparents; uncle, J Paul Lane; aunt, Loretta Carter; and cousin, Jaquetta Lane.
He is survived by his father, Emmett; aunt, Sara Lane; uncle, Glen Simmons (Marcia); cousins, J Paul Lane (Nancy), Jerry Lane (Greta), Janan Lane, James Lane (Elizabeth); sister-in-law, Suzanne (Phil); nieces, Shannon Shechter (Ashton), Alaina Wallace (Tobey); and many second cousins. Byron is also survived by beloved friends in New York, many of whom were like family and a large part of his life in later years.
