

Carl Henry Davis, 97, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in Davenport. Services for Carl will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 am in Ridgecrest’s Koning Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service at the Koning Chapel. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL with military honors conducted by the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest or to Genesis Hospice. Carl was born December 23, 1916; the son of Wilbur and Lillie (Hulick) Davis. He was united in marriage to Maureen (Rene) Demaree on June 16, 1939 in Rushville, IL; she preceded him in death.
He retired from M.A. Ford Manufacturing Company in December 1981 where he had been employed for 39 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific with the 96th “Deadeye” Infantry. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge #28; the American Legion Post #26; Silver Service, Plus 60 Club, Nifty 50 Club and the Foresters Court #1180. He was an active member of several senior bowling leagues and a former member of the Moose Ramblers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards and gardening.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Richard (Judy) Benson, Davenport; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Rene, son, James and a brother, Ralph S. Davis.
